Roman Catholic Bishop. He was Denver's first Catholic Archbishop. Upon his consecration as a Bishop on June 10, 1931, he was the youngest Bishop in the United States. He worked tirelessly to help the poor of Denver during the Great Depression. In 1941, the Vatican established the Archdiocese of Denver (as opposed to the Diocese of Denver) and installed Bishop Vehr as Denver's first Archbishop.
