Rev. C. Berkshire
Passed Away Early This Morning After Long Illness
Rev. Clarence E. Berkshire, aged 32 years, 6 months and 11 days, died at 12:10 a.m., Thursday, December 15, 1904, at the home of his mother No. 216, High Street, Morgantown.
Rev. Berkshire was the son of Emmett and Agnes Berkshire and was born and raised at Easton this county.
His father died several years ago and for about fifteen months he made his home with his mother. About four years ago he was ill of typhoid fever and never fully recovered from the attack. Being compelled to give up his charge as pastor of the Methodist Protestant Church at Buchannon, W. Va., he came to Morgantown suffering from consumption and for four months has been confined to his bed.
He was a bright man , an earnest worker in his chosen field. Being prepared to go to his Master, death had no terrors for him, but came as a welcome relief from suffering.
The funeral services will be held in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 11 a.m., Saturday, and will be conducted by Rev. J. G. Morrison. The burial will be made in the Pleasant Hill cemetery."
