Politician. He was the President of the Council of Ministers of the Kingdom of Italy. In the political history of United Italy, his stay as head of government was one of the longest. The historical period during which he exercised his political leadership on Italy is nowadays called Giolitti era. He was one of the liberal politicians more engaged in the extension of the base of the newly Italian democratic unitary state, and in economic modernization, industrial and cultural policy of the Italian society between the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries.
