Altgeld, Peter -- Washington. Died, Tuesday night, at 12 o'clock, of dropsy, Peter Altgeld, aged 72 years, 2 months and 16 days. Mr. Altgeld was born in Setlers, Germany, May 6th., 1818; was married to Mary C. Lehnhart in 1845. Mr. & Mrs. Altgeld moved to America in 1848 and have been residents of Richland County about 42 years. There was born to them nine children, of whom four are living, as follows: Judge J.P. Altgeld, of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Mary Frederich, Mrs. Amelia Sell and Miss Minnie Altgeld, of this vicinity. Mr. A. had been sick for about a year with dropsy. He also met with an accident last April breaking his ankle, which kept him in bed up to a few weeks ago, since which he has been around, yet troubled considerably with dropsy. The funeral will take place Friday at 10 o'clock. Deceased will be buried in the German Lutheran Cemetery, Rev. Schetly officiating.
