Biographical information provided by William B. Walker's great-great grandson, William Walker.

Son of John Walker and Elizabeth Buchanan Walker.

William B. Walker married Mary Anna Higbie May 1, 1835. She was born in New York in 1815. They were the parents of Loretta, Melvin M., Gilbert L., James B., Albert C., John H., and Wallace W. All but Wallace were shown to be born in Ohio. Wallace was listed as born in Indiana and he is two years old in the 1860 census.

In 1850, William's family was living and farming in Whitley County, Indiana.

In the 1870 census, William B. Walker and his wife Mary Anna, have left Indiana, and returned to Ohio. They are living in Butler County Ohio, Fairfield Township. William shows real estate value of $18,870, and a personal estate of $400, occupation farmer.

Oct 11, 1876 William B. Walker died, buried in McCabe Cemetery, aka High Prairie Cemetery, Butler County, KS. His grandson Alva A. b. Aug 14, 1873 d. Dec 11, 1878, son of James B. Walker and Martha E. Shons, is buried in this cemetery also. Next to William is his son Albert C. Walker, who died Sep 25, 1871, age 23.

1880 William B. Walker's son, James B. Walker and wife Martha E. Shons are living in Butler County KS also, but at a different location than other son Melvin M. Walker. The wife of William B. Walker, Mary A., is shown on the census as a "widow" now, and is living at the home of son Melvin M. Walker, with wife Elizabeth P. Merrill, and son Miles Merrill Walker.

Mary A. Walker died at her son Gilbert L. Walker's house located at 740 Sandusky Ave, Kansas City, Wyandotte County KS. Her obituary in the Kansas City Gazette indicates her body was shipped to Douglas KS for burial next to her husband William.

Between the 1880 census, and the 1900 census, Melvin's wife Elizabeth P. apparently died. Melvin and family, are now living in Osage County KS. Elizabeth P. Walker does not have a marked grave in McCabe Cemetery, so it is presumed she is not buried there, but I have not confirmed this with any records yet. Although markers could have been broken/destroyed.
