Larry Dale Lance, 63, of Fairview, passed away unexpectedly at his home Sunday, May 27, 2012.

He was born October 31, 1948 in Topeka, Kansas, one of two children of Dale and Thelma McGeeney Lance.

Larry grew up in Colorado, graduating high school from Cortez in 1966 and moved to Fairview in 1974 and started work at the Farmers State Bank where he worked for 38 years, currently serving as senior vice president.

Larry loved to hunt, fish and golf in which he made many friends over the years. He would help friends any way he could and never look back. Goodbye to a great man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Emily Southward Lance of 35 years, of the home in Fairview; his son J.D. (Regan) Lance of Bella Vista, Arkansas; his parents Dale and Thelma Lance of Fairview; a sister Debbie Conley of Denver, Colorado; three grandsons: Jonathan, Reece, Matthew; two nieces and a nephew.

A celebration of Larry's life is planned for 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, with Shane Spangler officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Wednesday and where the family will meet from 6:30 until 8 that evening.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Larry Lance Memorial Fund which may be sent in care of the funeral home, 124 S 7th St., Hiawatha 66434.
