Civil War Union Soldier. He was a 31 year old resident of Northampton, New Jersey, father of three and occupied as a shoemaker when enrolled in Company I, 23rd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on August 28, 1863, and was mustered in as a Corporal on September 13, 1862. He served through the December 1862 Fredericksburg Campaign, and the May 1863 Chancellorsville Campaign, and was honorably discharged with his regiment on June 27, 1863.

Filed for US Army Invalid Veteran Pension, April 26, 1890 (Application #771057, Certificate #660448).


Born in Columbus, Burlington, New Jersey, Benjamin Aaronson and Jane Thorn were married in Bordentown, Burlington, New Jersey 7 November 1852.
All of their twelve children were born in Burlington County, New Jersey.
Children, Joseph H. (1) died at age 1, Alfred, Ella, Amos, Charlotte, Mary, Florence, William, Jane, Joseph H. (2), Harriett, Theodore.

Benjamin was a master shoemaker.

Mount Holly Herald Newspaper Obit reads:
Benjamin, age 84, formerly of Mount Holly. Relatives, friends, Gen. A.E. Shiras Post 16, and G.A.R. are invited to the funeral at residence of his son William, 426 Lawrence St. Burlington, Saturday at 3pm. Interment is private.
