Boxer Rebellion Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Machinist First Class, in the U.S. Navy. During the relief expedition of the Allied forces in China on June 13, 20, 21 and 22, 1900, he distinguished himself countless times in the presence of the enemy. For meritorious conduct, he was awarded the Medal of Honor in July, 1901.
