Saint. She was the daughter of an Irish king who came to Wales to live as a hermitess. One day while the Prince of Powys was hunting a hare he encountered Melangell as she gave the animal refuge. The prince was impressed with her kindness and gave her land to start a community of religious women. Died around 590 AD and her Feast Day is May 27th.
