My Nan was one of 22 children, some of her siblings being twins, and a set of triplets. She was a very warm but down to earth lady. Born in an era where families were larger and women had to work very hard to sustain them. She and my Grandad raised 3 boys and 2 girls. They lost one little boy at 9 months old. She was a beautiful lady, with lovely long red hair. None of her family inherited this to her dismay. She had a gift for knowing what was going to happen, and often forsaw things which could be very upsetting for her. I remember she used to crochet us lovely white socks, and make the most wonderful plum jam (which I can still remember vividly) Times spent at her house were very happy. Towards the end of their life, my Grandparents lived in a farmhouse which was on its own out in the fields, and were very happy there. They were devoted to each other, and when Nan died, my Grandad followed her only 10 days afterwards. I remember her with great affection, a very strong and determined lady, my Nan.
