Ruth Thurman Turner, 89, passed away on October 13, 2004 in Afton. Funeral services will be held on Thursday Oct 21, 2004 in the Bedford LDS Church at 1 a.m. A viewing will take place prior to the funeral service from 9-10:45 a.m. at the church.
Ruth was born on June 10, 1915 in Grover to Ray Stewart and Lucy LaVilla Thurman. She was raised on a farm and attended elementary school in Grover and graduated from Star Valley High School in 1933.
Ruth married Clifford R. Turner on May 22, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they worked hard to raise a family and make a living.
Ruth was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many church callings in her lifetime, including primary teacher, secretary and president, Relief Society President and visiting teacher. Clifford and Ruth also served a mission and worked as officiators in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Ruth is survived by her children, Beverly (George) Kimball, Allen (Marie) Turner, Ruth Ellen (Blake) Wartchow, and Carol Downes; 18 grandchildren, and 42 great grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Linda; two grandchildren; her parents; five sisters and two brothers.
