George J. McManus, Jr. MATTHEWS - George J. McManus, Jr., age 62, of Matthews, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013, at his residence. He was born August 8, 1950, in Charlotte, North Carolina, the son of the late George Juhan McManus, Sr. and Isabel Wilkinson McManus.
George graduated from East Mecklenburg High School and attended Catawba College. He enjoyed playing music with friends, painting and was able to excel in many artistic outlets. George was a fun loving person who delighted in spending time with his close friends and loved ones.
Surviving are his girlfriend, Linda Brown; sisters, Mary Chapman and husband George and Amy Morgan and husband Mark; nephews, George Chapman III and Mark Morgan, Jr; nieces, Janel Thompson and Anna Stricker; canine companion, Scarlett; and numerous beloved friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, January 21, 2013, at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. A celebration of life will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery.
