Johnny was born in Fort Defiance AZ and a better place could not be named! It must've rubbed off on him!

Son of Charles Douglas "Duffy" Parkhurst and Alice Lee Stomley.

John was a free spirit in every sense of the word. He was a great uncle because in many ways he was just a big kid.

He left his widow, Alicia Honie Parkhurst, in Arizona and had a number of children Nick Parkhurst, Diamond Lee Parkhurst, Stanford Lee Parkhurst, Echo Parkhurst, Nikole Lee Parkhurst, and at least one granddaughter Daisy Parkhurst. This may not be a complete listing of all his children.

He once took me and my brother to get easter baskets and ended up taking us across out of state! My parent's about had a heart attack!

During the Vietnam War he served aboard the USS Kittyhawk. Family legend has it that while in port in Thailand (or maybe Philippines?) he was approached by a woman who begged him to take her baby with him as she was so poor she couldn't feed it. Uncle John being the type of guy he was took the baby onto the ship which later left port. He and some of his friends attempted to keep the baby hidden with the ultimate goal of returning it to stay with his mother Alice in Pine Ridge.

Needless to say, he got caught and was brought up on charges of white slavery. But he beat the rap once it become apparent that he had the best of intentions.

Over the years John did fall in & out of trouble due to his nature but overall he had a good life.

Johnny died on the Fourth of July at home. He had recently had alot of dental work done and the dentist gave him morphine for the pain. He apparently mixed that with alcohol(probably not realizing the danger)and it was too much for his system to handle. He passed out and never woke up again.

Grandson of Susanna Lee . Father of: Nick Parkhurst

He died too soon.. And we all miss him very much!

Hoka Hay!
