Chris Nelson was to marry my sister, Cindy, on August 10, 2013. He thought he had the flu over Easter. Then everything went terribly wrong. We who knew and loved him are left saddened and stunned by his passing. He was a wonderful man who will live on in our hearts forever.
Chris David Nelson, age 62, of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, was born on January 30, 1951 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the son of Orall and Jane (Wesley) Nelson, and step-mother, Maryann Nelson. Chris died at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin on April 4, 2013, after a sudden and brief illness. He was a 1969 graduate of Washington High School in Milwaukee, attended Milwaukee Area Technical College, and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Chris was employed for over 20 years at Worth Realty in Milwaukee, and was a member of the Wisconsin Realtors Association. He was also a member of the Viking Gun Club in Valders, Wisconsin.
Chris is survived by his fianceé, Cindy (Nash) Adam of Sheboygan Falls. Chris and Cindy were to be married on August 10, 2013. Other survivors are Cindy's children, Tyler (Heidi) Adam and their children, Kristof and Veronica of St. Charles, Illinois, and Kate Adam (son Austin Martinez) of Sheboygan Falls. Also surviving are Vi Brewer, Cindy's mother of Sheboygan Falls, and Cindy's sister, Lori (Dan) Kanitz of Sheboygan.
He is also survived by his former wife of 27 years, Terry Nelson, Milwaukee, and his sister Joan Harmon (Jim O'Brien) of Las Vegas, Nevada. Chris's children are Kristine Croft of Atlanta, Georgia, Jacque Courton, Nicole (Kyle) Rodefer, William (Noryne Tesky) Merkey, and Dori (Jonathan) Campbell, all of the Milwaukee area. Grandchildren are James and Kaleb Croft, Michael Merkey, Dean and Miranda Rodefer, Elizabeth Merkey, Brent and Brandon Biedenbender, and Kaiden Campbell.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, a brother Neal Nelson, and a son, Robin Smith.
A celebration of Chris's life was held on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Faith United Methodist Church, Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, with Pastor Don Drollinger officiating.
