12 Apr 1886: LAID TO REST/The Funeral of Mr. George Wormood Yesterday Afternoon. The last sad rites were said yesterday over the remains of Mr. George Wormood, son of W.W. Wormood, the jewler. The young man, whose death occurred in Chicago recently, had been a resident of that city for a number of years but had retained the friendship of his earlier associates here, many of whom were at the funeral. The wife of the deceased came over with the remains from Chicago when he died, as did the brother, Allie, and his father, who was with him in Chicago when he died. The young widow was deeply affected and the scene at the grave when she asked for a last look at the face of her husband was a very touching one. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Judson B. Thomas of the Baptist church. The pallbearers were Messrs. C.D. Hayden, Arthur O'Malley, Jr, John F. Burns, Fred A. Miller, Joseph Quigley and Charles Otley. Burial was at Linwood cemetery.
