Evelle Younger was born on June 19, 1918 in Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Nebraska Law School and served as a Special Agent for the FBI. During World War II he served with Army Intelligence in India. He worked his way up the ranks to Major General in the Air Force Reserve. Younger was a Los Angeles assistant district attorney and a judge in both municipal court and superior court. As District Attorney for the County of Los Angeles, many headline-grabbing cases were prosecuted during his term, included the assassination of Senator Robert Kennedy, the Manson Family murders and the Watts Riots. In 1970, he was elected California State Attorney General.
