Ida was the second daughter of Conrad Simon and Catherine Muehr Simon She was born in St. Kilian, Wisconsin. She joined the convent the Sisters of St. Agnes in Barton, Wisconsin, where she recieved the name Sr. Mary Armila. When the convent moved to Fond du Lac, the sisters had a choice of coming home or going to Fond du Lac. She came home as she was ill with tuberculosis She had 8 brothers and sisters only 3 of which lived to adulthood. Her mother and father and 5 siblings preceded her in death. She succumbed to her disease at the age of 30. She is buried in St. Kilian next to her half sister Mathilda Simon , who also succumbed to tuberculosis at the age of 25.
