Officer Larsen was one of five children born to Arthur Albert and Dorothy (Demus) Larsen. He was a 1965 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School and a 1969 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He was employed as a police officer for the city of Beloit Wisconsin. He met his wife Pam there and they married on January 4, 1976. He also was the owner of Sun Bed and Surf Shop and The Grand Avenue Art Gallery, both in Beloit. Officer Larsen was severely wounded in the line of duty on January 4, 1985 and died from his injuries 13 years later.
