Mrs. Powell was born at Chaplins Landing, Rantowles, and was the daughter of the late John Robert Baughman, Sr. and Rosalie LaVenia Chaplin Baughman.
She was a graduate of St. Paul's High School and the Medical University of Charleston. She was a registered nurse and devoted many years of her life to the unselfish care of others. She was of the Baptist faith. Her family was her greatest source of enjoyment.
She is survived by three daughters, Ilona Baldwin of Summerville, Deborah B. Hammond-Watkins of Port Wentworth, Betty Jean King of Brooklet, and two sons, Emerson Baldwin of Green Pond, SC and John Powell of Savannah, brother Ralph Baughman of Rantowles, SC, 7 grandchildren, Christina, Michelle, Samantha, Jessica, Sara Beth, John Thomas and Emily Catherine; five great-grandchildren, Skyler, Ryker, Dalton, Courtney and Morgan.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John Robert Baughman, Jr.
Interment was in Chaplin Family Cemetery, Johns Island, SC.
