My Great-Grandfather. The son of William and Mary Jane Linney (nee Anderson), he was born in Normanton, West Yorkshire, England. Married Frances J. Dean in 1884 and had four children: Laura (my Grandmother), Bertha, Olive, and Robert. In 1891 he emigrated to the United States and became a U.S. Citizen in 1899. Linney was much involved in charitable work and at the time of his death he was assistant director of the Goodwill Home and Rescue Mission in Newark, New Jersey.
