PIERCE--At the residence of her son, on Saturday, May 16th, 1885, Mrs. Hannah Pierce, aged eighty-nine years.
Mother Pierce was born in May 1796, in Allegheny County, Pa., removing with her parents to Columbiana County, Ohio, in 1805. Her maiden name was Hannah Cunning, and she was married to Aaron Pierce, Sr., January 13th, 1814. Mr. Pierce died in 1880, in the ninety-second year of his age, after a wedded life of almost sixty-six years. Mr. and Mrs. Pierce moved into Richland County, Ohio, then a wilderness, in 1814, and came to Cedar County, Iowa, in 1854. Mrs. Pierce was the mother of fourteen children, only four of whom survive. She had been a member of the Christian Church over forty-five years, leaving an exemplary christian life. She was a devoted and loving wife, a kind and faithful mother and a good neighbor. She died loved and respected by all who knew her and has gone home to her reward.
