My Grandma was my best friend, and my anchor. She was always there for me. From the time I was a little girl and she would read me the town mouse and the country mouse, over and over. She finally had to tape the book up with masking
tape and that book is more priceless than any that I will ever own. All the times she would put my dog Schotzee out on the leash just before I would come home from school, so she could run to me and jump on my legs. She gave me her beautiful wedding dress to be married in. Her and I could talk for hours and hours and we did. We would sit outside on my parents swing in her yard and just swing and talk about everything under the sun. She always listened to me. I could tell her anything and she would truly listen.
She was the first one I ran to when both of my ex husbands broke my heart. She was my comfort.
She met my Grandpa,
Donald Sperry
when they were small children
and after years had passed and other relationships they were joined together in marriage. Together they founded and operated one of the finest drycleaning establishments in
the area. My fondest memories are of the times I spent in
that cleaners. My grandma was the loving mother of my
mom, Linda, whom she took care of lovingly until my mom's last day on earth. She raised my Uncle Curt with so much love and
care. She was a wonderful Grandma to my cousin Sarah, whom
she adored and waited 14 years for after I was born.
My Grandma worked for a defense plant making war products while my Grandpa was in World War II. She loved angels, to cook, bake, flowers, birds, reading the Bible, bowling, playing solitare, the Chicago Cubs, Ryne
Sandberg, Emeril, and her family
with all of her heart.
She was the most loving and sweetest woman I have ever known. She was a true friend to everyone, and so giving...
She loved to dance, esp to polkas, she and my grandpa took the cutest little steps together. They were so adorable together. Grandma loved country music and enjoyed her trips to Tennesse, Branson and all of my Grandpa's Army Reunions....She made many crafts, and beautiful ornaments for all of our Christmas trees.
How I loved when she baked all the wonderful cookies, (esp at Christmas) and she would let me taste the dough. Her
German Stollen at Christmastime was incredible.
She also was the strongest person I knew emotionally. She lost my mother, and not even 2 months later she lost her husband, my grandfather. Her faith in the Lord and her family is what kept her going she would say.
