Dick was a graduate of Aquinas High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree in History and Philosophy from Loras College in 1952. October 3, 1959, he married Marjorie Foehser at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in La Crosse.
Dick was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of Gittens-Leidel American Legion Post 595 of La Crescent. Memberships in the Carpenter's Union and Elks Club in La Crosse for many years and was a long-time active and devoted member of Crucifixion Parish in La Crescent. Dick worked for Blatz Brewing Co.; in 1958 he began working for his brother, John, at Poellinger Plastering until his retirement. Dick's favorite free-time activity was spending time in his garden. He was an avid and very talented gardener who loved to share the produce that he grew with family, neighbors, and those in need.
