* MY WONDERFUL MOM *

Tillie Burks, age 86, of White Lake, MI, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 at home under the loving care of her family.

Beloved mother of Greg (Kari) Burks, Lisa Burks, and Laura (Bill) Covey. Loving grandma of Brandon Burks, Samantha Burks, and Olivia Covey.

Special sister-in-law of Larry and Susan Burks, and proud aunt of Adam (Andrea) Burks, Shawn (Julie) Burks and Beth (Chris) McGrath.

Dear grammeow of Oliver, Rocky, Buddy, Holly, and Felix.

She was preceded in death by her cherished husband Arnold Burks, infant daughter Carol Burks, and her parents Mickey and Minnie Vidlicka.

Tillie was a longtime active member of the Faith Lutheran Church family and particularly enjoyed helping out at rummage sales and Vacation Bible School.

She cared for her husband at home for nine months as he succumbed to brain cancer. After his death in 1984 she sought help for her grief through the H.O.P.E. group at Elton Black and Son in White Lake, later becoming a volunteer facilitator.

At this time she also earned her certification as a home health aid. For over 10 years she assisted many families and patients in need, inspired by the at home medical and hospice assistance she received with her husband.

Her favorite color was purple. She loved and collected Dopey from Disney's Seven Dwarfs, had a mad crush on Detroit Lions quarterback Matt Stafford, made countless pilgrimages to Frankenmuth for chicken dinners and to shop at Bronners CHRISTmas Wonderland, collected tea cups for 60 years and of course was an avid tea drinker. Also, she loved to play bunco and to travel with her friends.

Everyone will miss receiving her famous hugs. She never met a person she didn't hug.

Visitation will be from 3:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road, Highland.

Funeral visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00am on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church, 3501 E. Highland Road, Highland. Pastor Terry Claus officiating.

Private burial will take place at Glen Eden Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions can be made to Faith Lutheran Church.

Thank you to everyone at St. Joseph Mercy Hospice of Oakland for your skilled and loving guidance during Mom's transition.

Thank you to Michaela Pelton and the staff of Elton Black and Son for your compassion and extraordinary attention to detail.
