Mrs. Truda Thompson, 92, died Sunday in Kerens, after a lengthy illness. She was a resident of Kerens for 51 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Kerens.
Services were at 11 a.m. in the Kerens Church of Christ. Albert Brown, pastor, officiated.
She is survived by Two sons; L. T. Thompson of Kerens and Nello H. Thompson of Kerens; two daughters, Mrs. Jessie Bell Harris of Arlington; Mrs. Margie Rose Hutto of Alvin; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Aunt Trudy (Rose) Thompson was my Great Aunt and sister of my Grandfather Jim Rose and Great Uncle Tom Rose. She married Leonard Coleman Thompson - son of Georsge Gaton Thompson and Harriet Ann Ray from Ripley, Alabama - on January 31, 1904 in Lentzville, Alabama. Aunt Trudy had black hair like her mother Elmira Almeda Rose when she was young and was black-eyed. She was a jolly, talkative person. Later on in their marriage, around 1924, Trudy and Coleman moved to Kerens, Texas in Navarro County where she would live the rest of her life. She had five children, four growing to adulthood and beyond. Their first child was a little boy that was born and died on December 5, 1905 at Ripley, AL and was buried in Hudson Cemetery in Coxey, Al near Clements High School. Aunt Trudy and Coleman lived in Alabama for the first twenty years of their marriage, rearing their first three children Leonard Pasiley(Pate) - born March 14,1906 - Nello Harrison(Nello) - born May 27, 1908, and Jessie Belle - born April 4, 1910 through their formative years in Limestone County. In 1924 the entire family would travel by train to Kerens Texas, leaving Alabama permanently. Aunt Trudy was 40 years old. On November 12, 1925 she would give birth to her last child, Marjorie Rose, in Powell, Texas. Coleman would die on December 6, 1951 at age 74. Aunt Truda would visit Alabama several times over the remaining years of her life, especially to see her sister Mattie Rose, who was a year older than her, and to see her old gossip mates cousins Bets Ezell, Evie Bridges, and Hannah Cox. She died in Kerens at age 92 in 1976. Mattie died the next year at age 94.
