Sgt. Anthony M. K. Vinnedge, 24, of Okeana, Ohio; was assigned to Troop C, 2nd Squadron, 107th Armor Cavalry Regiment, Ohio Army National Guard, Greenville, Ohio; died July 5 at the Radwaniyah Palace Complex, Iraq, of injuries sustained in a non-combat related incident. Tony was born the son of Deborah Kress Vinnedge of Okeana and Michael Vinnedge of Hamilton. He was a 2001 graduate of Talawanda High School where he was a member of the Cross Country Team, Track and Field and sang in the school choir. In his senior year, he won the Fairfield Ford Cross Town Shoot-Out and was award Student of the Week. Tony served five years in The U.S. Army which included three years of active duty and two years with The Ohio National Guard where he had been deployed with the 2nd Squadron #107th Cavalry. Tony is also survived by his brother Michael John Vinnedge, II; his grandparents Delbert R. and Janette M. Kress of Okeana, and John Vinnedge of Hamilton; aunts and uncles Nancy Kress of Middletown, Amy Jo Merz, Diane Pink, Karen Wright, John W. Vinnedge, II; a devoted great aunt, Evelyn Kress; great aunts Velma Cornett and Margie Roark; numerous cousins, relatives and friends including Eric Kendle and his devoted friend and role model Ricky L. Hazelwood. Tony was preceded in death by his grandmother, Phyllis Vinnedge.
