Marvin E Brown was born April 15, 1915 in Yukon, Canadian, Oklahoma. He is the son of Charles Edwin Brown and Luetta Vernal Stingley. He has a sister named Hazel Neoma Brown Steele.
He enlisted in the Army May 29, 1941 in Oklahoma City, OK with his cousin Harry Maurice "Bud" Vickers. Maurice was killed in 1943 at the Army base in Louisiana. Marvin, however served his time and was honorably discharged Dec 17, 1945 in Fort Lewis, Washington. He served in the Army as a Staff Sargent in WWII in the South Pacific.

He worked for many years as a railroad detective.
Marvin died in his home at Rockaway Beach, Tillamook, Oregon on March 29, 1992. He was cremated and his ashes scattered in the forest near the North Fork of the Clackamas River in Oregon, a favored family camping area in which he had fond memories. The family purchased a memorial brick at Dornbecher's Children's Hospital to honor his name.

A memorial service for former Portland resident Marvin E. Brown will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Waud's Funeral Home in Tillamook.
Mr. Brown died of causes related to age Sunday in his Rockaway Beach home. He was 76.

Mr. Brown enlisted in the US Army and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star. In 1946, he went to work as a railroad detective for Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired in 1976. After that he moved to Rockaway Beach.
Mrs. Brown died in 1979.
Survivors include his daughter, Luetta Rea of tillamook, sons John of Portland and Patrick of Green River, Wyo.; sister Hazel Steele of Anchorage, Alaska and seven grandchildren.
