My great great grandfather, Johann Heinrich was the only son of Peter and Maria (Balbierer) Mann. He was born in Wiesenberg, Galicia in 1843, married Rosalia Kuehnert and raised a family of 5 sons and 2 daughters.

In December, 1893 Johann Heinrich and Rosalia along with their 5 bachelor sons, both daughters and their families immigrated to the Pheasant Forks district of the North West Territories. Johann Heinrich and his eldest son Johann obtained homesteads on adjoining quarters 2 miles south of what would become the town of Lemberg Saskatchewan. Canadian Pacific Railway land sales records archived at the Glenbow Museum in Calgary indicate Johann Heinrich helped all 5 sons buy CPR land in the Lemberg area during the first few years of the 20th century.

After Rosalia's death in 1909, Johann Heinrich married Appolonia (Gelowitz) Huber, a widow with several children. He and Appolonia had one son, Charlie (Carl).
