Photo Note: Mary was the younger sister of my paternal Grandfather. If there is the same photo already on her memorial, there is no reason to add it again like a couple have done. The photos I have added were a part of my grandparents' photo collection.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mary Louise Capps was born in Nevada Missouri on May 5 1919 to Paris Pzaro Capps and Minnie May Moore Capps. The youngest of 7 children, Mary was very loved. As she grew, she was always noted as being a very loving child and very pretty. Her hair was a beautiful shade of red.

On June 16 1931 while driving up a hill on the way home to Ritchey Missouri, their car overheated at the top of a hill near their farm. Her father was working on the car and letting it cool while Mary, who was only 12 years old played at the foot of the hill near some trees.

The car unlodged and rolled down the hill, catching Mary between it and a tree; crushing her skull. She died several hours later on June 17.

Her shoes that she wore that day were in my grandparents (her oldest brother, Lewis Capps) well house for as long as I could remember, and is now in my house as well as a lock of her hair.

One of my goals was to find a picture of her one day. I am very glad to have found her photo. The third picture at the right (which is on the second page of photos) was taken while she, her mother and two sisters were in a garden. I would have to say it was taken sometime in May or June of the year she died .

The last photo taken of Mary, was of her as she lay in her coffin with all the flowers surrounding her. Placing post-mortem photos are strictly against the rules here, so that photo will never be on her memorial.

Notes:
All my life I had heard the story about my father's aunt and how she had died. My father was born in April 23, 1931, so he would have been almost 2 months old at the time of her death. The stories he told me about Mary, indicated that she had actually died at the scene of the accident which was in Ritchey, Missouri. And that is the reason why I had initially put her place of death as Ritchey. However, her death certificate states that she died in Neosho, Newton County, Missouri.

Thank you so much to Michael Dunn for sponsoring this memorial and that of Mary's mother and baby sister. He has to be one of the nicest, sweetest guys at findagrave.
