Janet made her transition from this life to the next just 18 days before her 66th birthday. She passed suddenly due to pneumonia, a complication of her lung cancer.

She was a native of the Santa Monica area.

She was the mother of Joanne Strom and Jayne Osborne; sister of James, David, Lee and Alan Ruzicka and Lynn Marie and June Hood. Grandmother of Allen, Robert and Jennifer. Great Grandmother of Angelina Alayna, and Lilith. Janet was the daughter of Joseph Martin Ruzicka and Virginia Pritchard Ruzicka. Formerly married (widowed) to George A. Strom III and Frank C. Brandes.
