Founder of the American Taekwondo Association, Martial Arts Instructor. He was born in Manchuria, China, and after World War II, he relocated with his parents to Korea. He moved to the United States in 1962, working to open martial arts classes across the country. In 1969, he founded the American Taekwondo Association and became a U.S. citizen in 1973. Since 1977, the organization's headquarters have been located in Little Rock, Arkansas. He earned the title of Grand Master, having also earned his ninth degree black belt. He became an author, having written various technique books in the art and form of Taekwondo. He was posthumously promoted to tenth degree black belt as well as awarded the title Eternal Grand Master.
