LORD, Helen Marie Passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 23, 2009, in her Quartz Hill home. She was 78. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Rowland "Jim" Lord, less than four months earlier. Our mother was truly the heart of our family. She was full of life and her love for her daughters was forever unconditional. She raised her daughters in Quartz Hill where she was a Brownie leader, Girl Scout leader, teachers helper, neighborhood mom and their biggest cheerleader. One of her life lessons was to accept a person, despite appearances, for their heart and their friendship because those are the things that last a lifetime. Be true and kind, and leave judgment in Gods hands. Our mom was wild, fun and shared every moment of her life with her girls. She danced whatever crazy dance came our way: from the waltz to the mashed potato to the electric slide, she did them all. She would roller skate, jumped rope, and could throw a mean snowball. She hated worms and snakes but never punished her girls for scaring her with them on occasion. She participated in all the same activities and educated her grandchildren the same way in her later years. She had the gentlest touch that would erase all your hurt and while held in her arms there was peace, comfort and love. In a family primarily of girls, Helen was the first to accept the men we loved and make them feel like part of the family. She loved her friends, sunbathing, gardening, playing cards, sewing, bingo and, later in life, playing games on her computer. Helen is survived by her 6 daughters: Janet, Deborah, Judy, Becky, Julie and Dee (who, by Gods blessing, was a daughter of her heart if not of her body); her brothers Joseph and Fred Lemich (he passed June 26, 2009), sister Marian Syfrig and family and sister- in-law Sandra Poe and family; her son-in-laws: Randy, Allen, Bruce, Jeff and Bill. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Paula. We will all miss her smile, her comfort and her hugs. She was an angel on earth and all Gods creatures loved her and the many pets left behind feel her presence every day. She is with her husband, daughter, parents and friends again, may they rest in Gods presence until we meet again, Amen. From all our hearts, a special thank you to granddaughter Leeanne, great-granddaughter Savannah and Rod for caring for our mom and dad the last four years and for giving them more time with family and friends. We are forever grateful! Per moms request, there will be no services. In remembrance, please celebrate with your loved ones and just enjoy Gods creations that surround us every day.
