Thelma Luetta Briggs, 89, of Livingston, died March 29, 1999, at Livingston Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Private family graveside services and interment of ashes will be held at Mountain View Cemetery following cremation.
Mrs. Briggs was born June 27, 1909, the daughter of Arthur and Esta Mae (Thomas) Snavely in Livingston. She was a lifelong resident of Park County. She grew up in Livingston and graduated from Park County High School. She was a Park County Pioneer. In 1928, she married Herbert Anson Briggs. Together, they lived in Yellowstone National Park, Mammoth and Gardiner. They moved back to Livingston in 1941.
Mrs. Briggs was a member of the United Methodist church of Livingston (formerly the Evangelical United Brethren). She was a Lady Elk and loved animals. She enjoyed baseball, basketball and watching car racing.
She is survived by a daughter; two sons; two sisters, Betty Haemig and Ruth DeYoung; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; daughter, Sylvia Mae Cassidy; two sisters, Alma Lavergne and Dorothy Perkins; and one brother, Dale Snavely.
