Funeral services for Samuel J. Tuley were held Sunday aftenoon, March 9, at the First Baptist church in Canton with the Rev. M. D. Mulvania in charge. Music was furnished by Miss Frances Boulware with Mrs. Marvin Zenge at the organ. Pall bearers were George Bader, Hilborn Bader, Stanley Hoffman, Fred Gamm, John Schlger and Floyd Tucker. Interment was in Forest Grove cemetery. Samuel John Tuley, son of William and Rebecca Tuley, the last of a family of thirteen children, was born July 10, 1861, and died Friday afternoon, March 7, at the age of 90 years, seven months and 26 days. He lived in and near Canton all his life with the exception of 11 years spent in Clark county. On February 4, 1886, he united in marriage to Elizabeth Jane Armstrong, who preceded him in death on January 11, 1948. To this union five children were born: Mrs. James Dewitt of Canton, Miss Ada Lee at home, Mrs. Arthur Kimberly of Monticello, Ernest Tuley of Lewistown and Frank Tuley of Springfield, Ill. Mr. Tuley joined the church early in life and was an active member of New Providence Baptist Church for many years. Later he moved his membership to the Wyaconda Baptist church of which he was a member until the time of his death. Survivors include the five children; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many other relatives.
