Rites Saturday for Lieut. Messerschmitt

Funeral services for Lieutenant Richard C. Messerschmitt,only child of Christopher F. Messerschmitt and the late Katharine Kaiser Messerschmitt of 125 Palmer Lane, will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Ullrich Funeral Home, 425 Greenwood Avenue, Trenton, New Jersey.

Requiem high mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Church at 10:30 a.m. and interment will be at convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow night from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Lieutenant Messerschmitt died in the crash of his plane last Thursday on a training flight near Santa Rosa Naval Training Base in California.

Mr. Messerschmitt was graduated from Trenton High School in June 1945 and from Princeton University in February 1949 with honors. He was a member of the college Forum Club and the Key and Seal Club. He was sworn into the U.S. Navy as an Ensign under the Naval Air Training program in Philadelphia June 1949.

Before his entrance into the Navy he was employed as a research assistant in Princeton.
