Paule was the only son of James F. Patterson and Margaret Leo Parker Patterson. He was twin to Pauline, with whom he shared four other sisters: Mildred, Ellen, Eva, and Sandra. Paule worked at the Atlanta Dairy as a very young lad, up until he joined the USAF at the age of 17. After 23 years as an Air Traffic Controller (20 yrs) and PME Lab Supervisor (3 yrs), he retired, went back to school, and eventually became one of the "charter" employees of Berg Steel Pipe Corporation in Port Panama City, a foreign trade zone port located on the St. Andrews Bay. After 18 years of service he retired with big plans to take his wife to Germany for their 40th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, Paule never realized that dream as he died--very unexpectedly--14 days after retiring from Berg. While taking a walk around the block, Paule had a massive heart attack which took his life instantly; he was found on the side of the road by three neighborhood boys. Paule was a lover of public radio, "high brow elevator music," the arts, NASCAR racing, and hunting with his grandsons. He enjoyed traveling, deep sea fishing, collecting handguns and buying his wife beautiful jewelry. He was loved by many and shared his love of life with everyone he came in contact with. He left behind his wife of 40 years, Marie, and three children: Paule Jr (wife Susan), Suzanne (husband Wayne), and Joi Lynn (husband Sonny); and ten grandchildren: Paule III, Geana, Justine, Michael, Samantha, William, Jordan, Carolyn, Katelyn, and Daniel. His death was unplanned, unexpected, and undeniably tragic for his family, as he was the center of their universe and bigger than life to all of them. "Daddy Paule" is and will continue to be missed by all.
