Wilhemina Wolnowski was born in the village of Klein Languth, Kreis Rosenburg, West Prussia, in the Lutheran parish of Raudnitz. Wilhemina's father, Johann Wolnowski, was a farmer; her mother, Anna Kwiatkowski, married him in 1872.

Wilhemina arrived with her mother and five of her siblings to Castle Garden on Nov 30, 1887. Her father was already in Detroit, where the family was planning to join other German immigrants at Zion Lutheran Church and to live in the Springwells Township area.

In Michigan, Wilhemina began going by the name Minnie. She married Rudolph Fred Macigewske Oct 24, 1903, at Zion Lutheran Church, Reverend Bachman officiating. Minnie and Rudolph went on to have four children: Elmer, Walter, Mabel, and Leona. The family resided at 3611 Gilbert, which was just a short walk from the homes of Minnie's parents and siblings.

In later years, some members of the family used the alternate spelling Majeske. Minnie passed away two and a half years before her husband, and they are laid to rest together in Section B Lot 117.
