Daughter of Fanny Eliza Louise Rees and George Frederick Woodley of West London, Rose Woodley attended Marylebone Central High School and then became a dressmaker at a shop on Bond Street. She married John Martineau in 1929 and they moved to South Lawrence, MA. The couple had ten children and operated Martineau's Egg Farm and Martineau's Oil in Methuen, MA for many years.
