Willard Bryce Wilson, First Child of Three, First Born Son of John Lloyd & Hattie Demarius (Weston) Wilson.
Brother of Gloria Jean (Nutt) and Lloyd Vance Wilson.
Husband to First Unknown, Father to Georgia, Mary & Steven.
Second Husband to Martha Lily (Zessin)(Melcher) Wilson.
Father of three more children and Step-Father to
Shirley Melcher Cowan, Mary A. Melcher Hubbard, Yhona Rose Melcher, who he loved as if they were his own children.
As a child he lived and worked on his family's farm. I was told that he spend so much time on a horse that he was partly "Bowlegged". He was a Cowboy to the end.
Served his country in the Army, registering on August 14, 1945 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and served his country at the end of World War Two, from August 1945 to February, 1947; rose to rank of Corporal, went to Japan in 1946 from Annapolis, Maryland, and was Honorable Discharged.
Worked at the Nebraska State Penitentiary at Lincoln, Nebraska as a Corrections Officer.
Then Owner of McCool Lockers and Cafe in McCool Junction, Nebraska, also owner of Skelley's Crossroads Cafe Truck Stop located at the York Exit 353 on Interstate 80 in Nebraska. The building still stands as a Shell Station and Crossroad Cafe.
Did all Butchering for the Lockers and Truck Stop.
Bill had a deep respect for Law Enforcement, whenever a Police Officer ate at Skelley's, it was always to be Free, he would never charge an officer. A lot of them around Eastern Nebraska knew him.
In 1974 went back to Ranching with Polled Hereford Cattle working in Big Horn, Wyoming, Olsen Ranches; Longmont, Colorado and Lloydminster, Alberta, Canada.
Bill ALWAYS drove a Buick. He loved the automobile, and he always liked brown and tan.
Grandma told him once when he brought another brown car, she said "For goodness sakes why didn't you get a blue car for a change, you always get brown".
Bill always wore a Tiger's Eye Ring on his Right hand.
When I was living with grandpa, one evening I was watching the Television program "The Walton's" a drama about family life in the 1930's. When he walked into the room and said to me "Let me tell you about the 'good old days' having to get up in the middle of the night freezing cold and having to put your clothes and boots on and a coat and go out into a damn blizzard to the Outhouse to take care of 'business' in freezing dark cold and coming back in and trying to get dry and taking off your clothes to go back to bed, screw the good old days, I'll take modern indoor plumbing with heating anyday!!!"
