Luella was the daughter of Alfred Hiram McKim and Cora Ellen (Fullerton). She married William Perry Rizor on June 22, 1918 in MO. No children were born to this union. Although, Luella had a stepdaughter named Helen Rizor. Luella cared for and loved Helen as if she were her own daughter and the two were very close. Luella and Bill moved around a lot in search of work for Bill and eventually the couple divorced. Luella later married Kenneth Edwin Gurley on March 16, 1939 in CA. They adopted a daughter named Nancy Carol Anne who was the apple of her mother's eye! Luella always loved children and was a very nurturing person.

Luella was the peacemaker in the family and felt that family was very important, as is evident by the many letters she wrote to her family throughout the years. The McKims were a tight bunch and she would regularly send her mother, father, and younger siblings money and little gifts to help them get by.

Luella is buried with her parents, sister Dorothea, and brother-in-law Earl Brumet. Her sister Dorothea paid for all the family plots in the cemetery.
