Adored husband of Karen Mickel Bennett, died at his home after a 5 1/2 month battle with cancer. Son of Glen Wilson Bennett and Clara Louise Schoonover. Married Karen Louise Mickel, January 18, 1964, at Reno, Washoe Co., Nevada. Father of two daughters, Brynn Barquin of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Kristin Flax of Los Altos, CA. Proud "Papa" of two grandsons, Christopher William Barquin of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Austin Flax of Los Altos, CA. and one granddaughter, Alexandra Cecile Barquin, of Raleigh, North Carolina. You are now a great-grandfather to Weston Bennett Knox, born Feb. 8, 2014, to your granddaughter, Lexie, and Adleigh Paige Barquin, born March 4, 2015, to your grandson, Christopher, and Braelyn Barquin, born to your grandson, Christopher, and wife, Krystal Barquin.


Bill started his career in the electronics and technology business in the early days of Fairchild Semiconductor and later co-founded Magna Sales, Inc., which was a very successful business for over 30 years. Magna was the first manufacturer's representatives for Apple Computer and took over being a sales representative for many early Silicon Valley companies. Bill 's different customers, along with Lockheed Martin, sold several components for the early United States Missile program including the

Minuteman missiles, i.e., ICBM's.


Bill was a two time National Champion in NHRA drag racing, which was his big love and hobby. He loved his family and was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend. There was no one who met Bill who didn't like him right away and become his friend no matter what station in life they were. Loved to travel and with his wife, Karen, they traveled all over the world.


Grandson of William Schoonover and Elsie Stopher Schoonover, both buried in Denver, Colorado. Grandson of Allen Bennett and Maude "Maggie" Reeves, both buried in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, at

Holland Cemetery. His grandmother, Maggie Reeves Bennett was 1/2 Cherokee Indian.


Friends from all over the world, China, Taiwan, India, Europe and the United States attended his funeral. He was loved, respected and well liked by everyone he met. No one, no matter their status in life, was not a friend of Bill Bennett. He was always ready to help anyone, stranger or friend. His many racing friends, technology friends, and old school mates showed their respect for Bill by the huge attendance of over 400 people, at his funeral.
