A poem from his memorial program by his grandson Michael and his wife Carolyn Givens:

G is for the Goodness he had in his heart
R is for the Respect he earned from the start
A is for the Admiration others had for him
N is for the Nobility he showed from within
D is for the Dad that loved his children despite their ways
P is for the Passion that he showed us day by day
A is for the Accomplishments he got along the way

G is for the Graciousness that was a gift from above
I is for the Ingenuity in the way he showed his love
V is for the Values he places on his life
E is for the Effort he showed through his strife
N is for the Nature he so passionately possessed
S is for the Stubborness he showed until his death.
