HOGARTH PRISONER
BRISTOL- Mrs. Mary Hogarth of Bristol R.D. No. 2 has received word from the War Department that her son, Elwood Hogarth, 19, is a prisoner of war of the Germans. He had been previously reported missing as of October 22. Pvt. Hogarth entered the army in April 1943, and went overseas last June. He played a bass drum with the American Legion Cadet Drum and Bugle Corps of Langhorne.

BRONZE STAR MEDAL. POW MEDAL, GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN COMPAIGN MEDAL with 2 bronze service stars; WORLD WAR II VICTORY MEDAL, COMBAT INFANTRYMAN BADGE 1ST AWARD, HONORABLE SERVICE LAPEL BUTTON WWII. MARKSMAN BADGE with Rifle Bar.

Even after all that he became the father of 8 children.

Husband of Dorothy Lillian Beck.

STROUDSBURG, Pa. - Elwood Hogarth, 69, of 1315 Kroucher Road was stricken ill and died Friday at his home.
Among his relatives, he leaves his wife, Kathleen (Naujelis) Hogarth; a son, Elwood "Butch" Hogarth Jr. of Princeton, Mass.; 13 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He was born in Palmyra, N.J., and lived many years in Bristol and 25 years here. Mr. Hogarth was a truck driver for many years before he retired.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe. He was a prisoner of war of the Nazis. He received two Bronze Stars. Funeral services will be held tomorrow in Tomlinson Funeral Home, Bensalem. Burial will be in Beverly, N.J. Calling hours at the funeral home are 7 to 9 tonight.
