It is not known how long he had been in the grain before a family member discovered him. Firefighters said Kevin was so submerged that all that could be seen of him were his feet. They administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but could not restore his breathing. He was rushed to Osteopathic Hospital, where after treatment, he began breathing on his own. He was later transported to University Hospital where he remained in critical condition until his death.
Kevin was a 1982 graduate of North Scott High School, Eldridge, Iowa and was employed by the Four Winds Recreational Products, Inc.
