Mary Belle Colver was born in Franklin County, Kansas, Feb. 5th, 1875, to Arthur W. and Alice E (Land) Colver. She departed this life June 18th, 1930, at the age of 55 years, 4 months and 13 days.
In her early childhood she suffered the loss of her mother. [Her father later married Mary A. Davis, who helped raise Belle.] Soon after that she embraced the Presbyterian faith and was a sincere Christian throughout her life.
At the age of eighteen years she moved with her father to Rooks county, and remained until February, 1896, when she was united in marriage to George M. McClure.
In sturdy pioneer fashion they moved to Sterling and made that their home till in the spring of 1908, when they removed to Pretty Prairie, where she lived until the Savior called her home.
She was an ideal wife and peerless mother. Her congenial disposition was a rare gift. She was a sincere champion of the young folks who so ardently loved her. She was humanly sympathetic with the grieving, because she had an understanding heart and an ever ready willingness to lend a hand to any worthy cause.
Preceding her in death are her parents, a sister and three infant grand daughters, Carol Joy and Barbara Jean McClure and Marilyn LeJeune Stucky.
She left to mourn her early departure the loving husband and five children, Ernest Arthur of Hutchinson; Ralph Johnathon of Liberal; Twila Belle of Pretty Prairie; Edna Gertrude and Ruth Mildred at home. One granddaughter, Betty Ann McClure.
