Funeral services for Scott Eugene Laven, 54, of Fairmont, MN, will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Private family burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont at a later date. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at the Lakeview Funeral home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the time of service Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Scott passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements. Scott Eugene Laven was born July 17, 1957, in Mankato, MN, the son of Carl and Beverly (Johnson) Laven. He was baptized in 1957 at Mankato Presbyterian Church. He was later confirmed on May 7, 1972 at the Congregational Church in Fairmont. He attended school in Fairmont and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1975. On January 26, 1980, Scott was united in marriage to Terry Paskey at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont, MN. Together the couple made their home in Fairmont and were blessed with three children, Kara, Joshua, and Derek. Following his high school graduation, Scott began working for Pepsi Co. He then began a long career with Draper Beverage where he really enjoyed his close customer relations that he built throughout the years on his route. Scott was currently employed with Hancor. In his spare time, Scott enjoyed fishing, boating, and spending time with his family and friends. Family was very important to him and he cherished the opportunity to be with his grandchildren. Scott was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairmont. He will be greatly missed by those that loved him and called him friend. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 31 years, Terry Laven of Fairmont, MN; parents, Carl and Bev Laven of Fairmont, MN; father and mother-in-law, Marvin and Patricia Paskey; children, Kara (Cade) Lehr, Joshua (Andrea) Laven, and Derek (Norah) Laven all of Fairmont, MN; grandchildren, Austin Lehr, Marisa Lehr, Lilly Laven, Hudson Laven, Sawyer Laven, and Adylen Laven; two brothers, Terry (Kate) Laven of Shoreview, MN, and Joe (Nikki) Laven of Little Canada, MN; sister, Mary (Greg) Abel of Fairmont, MN; brothers-in-law Craig (Vicki) Paskey of Fairmont, MN, Mark (Julie) Paskey of Fairmont,MN, Keith (Liz) Paskey of Plymouth, MN, sister-in-law Joni (Ken) Winter of Fairmont, MN; two uncles, Roger (Jane) Laven of Mankato, MN, and Pat (Elaine) Curry of Willmar, MN; an aunt, Lola Klassen of Mountain Lake, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
