Beloved Wife, mother and Grandmother and as it says on her tombstone, "Friend to all." She was born at home and raised in the Furtile farm lands of Central Georgia to James and Ethel (Allison) Crosby. A sweet red-haired southern belle, She became a telephone operator for Bell South in Augusta, Georgia. She met her true love Ralph L. Wiltse of Spokane, Washington, where he was stationed in the Army at Fort Gordon. They married on May 7th 1953 and settled down in Moses Lake, Washington. In the late 1950's they settled in Millwood, Washington. Mom was a stay at home mom for many years until we were old enough to take care of ourselves. During dinner my dad called my mom "The queen" and made all us kids stand up at the dinner table until mom would sit down. Throughout the late 60's and most of the 1970's mom was a Girl Scout leader and took joy and pride in the many activities and camping trips she took with young women. She took joy in helping mentor young women and installing pride and holesome values in their lives in those days. Mom decided to go back to work in the mid 70's for many years working for Safeco Insurance. In later years she and my dad spent many years as care takers for a millionaires summer home on a lake in northern Idaho. I can honestly say that to this day I have never met anyone with more love and compassion than this dear soul. With everyone she met and crossed paths with she manifested a spirit of acceptance, friendship, comfort, love and laughter. Everyone would hope to be invited to dinner for moms great southern home cooking of grits, fried chicken and hushpuppies.
In late 1992 when mom found out she was sick she was more concerened with the well being of my father and us kids more than herself. Mom told us of a dream she had just before she passed. She was standing in a field of un-bloomed roses on a nice spring-like day with a gentle breeze blowing upon her face. She heard a sweet loving voice say to her "this is my love for you" and all the roses bloomed around her as far as the eye could see. Mom loved the Lord with all her heart and was so thankful and cherrished the life she had on this earth. She was not afraid of death in the slightest.
Mom's soul and spirit are just as much alive today as as if she were walking on the earth so many years ago.
Survivors are: Husband of 40 years Ralph. Daughters: Virginia, Susan and Wendy. Son: David. 7 Granddaughters: Bethany, Katy, Lisa, Kristen, Megan, Allison and Kaitlyn. 3 Grandsons: Joshua, Michael and Nathaniel. 3 Greatgrandsons: Elijah, Noah and Carson. Sisters: Sara and Berta-may. Many nieces and nephews.
Proceeded in death by her brothers: MJ, Thomas and James.
Everytime I see my three beautiful sisters I see so much of my mom living on in them. The love, compassion and sweetness towards all people. I can clearly see theese traits and so much more in them and even in myself. I know that in our children those traits will live on for generations to come. We will see mom again in Glory and will rejoice before the Lord for all eternity.
