This is my grandma. She was born in Duisburg, Germany in 1914, raised up with three sisters and one brother.
Later, she married and gave birth to three girls.
Unfortunately her husband, my grandpa, was killed a few time after the end of the second world war in 1947. He was shot by a kind of guardian while searching food for his family on a grainfield.
Now she was alone with her three babies, but never discouraged!!
The three kids did grow up and build up their own families - all in all 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandsons.
My grandma never married again, but took care of her descendants. She always said, that she is happy, that there is such a great cohesion between the family-members.
Living in little village Mündelheim she was attainable for all of us. She was an excellent cook. She did harvest very delicious vegetables in her own garden and made the best meals far and wide!
And she was a kind of the family-head in a very positive kind.
Fortunately she lived her live healthy. Later on she couldn't move her legs so good, but took pleasure in general haleness.
She did spend her last years in a home for aged in her own apartment and was able to having good conversations and reading the newspaper.
On her last day, she said "I want to make a little snooze" and did fall asleep for ever.
My grandma never told very much about her life, but I know, that she uphold my family and that she was one of those who build up my country in the hard times.
