Edward "Eddie" Clifton Myatt Jr. died March 11, 2000 at Candler Hospital in Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia. He was born Monday, November 23, 1914 in Charleston, Charleston County, South Carolina, the oldest child of Edward Clifton Myatt, Sr. and Elizabeth Mary Ellsworth Myatt, but resided in Savannah most of his life. Eddie was a graduate of Savannah High School where he was on the football team. He served in the Navy during World War II and retired from the Corps of Engineers after 42 years of service which included being a tugboat captain. He was a Communicant of Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church in Savannah, Knights of Columbus Council No. 631, and a member of the Hibernian Society of Savannah (founded in 1812).

He married Edna Lois Bell Myatt, a Baptist, on October 11, 1952 at Blessed Sacrament in Savannah, and they honeymooned in New York City. Eddie and Lois lived for many years on East 32nd Street in Savannah and then bought a home on Early Street. Eddie had two sisters, Mary Myatt Bryk and Elizabeth Myatt Jacoby, one brother, Joseph Rutland Myatt, Sr., and many nieces and nephews, including Joseph Rutland Myatt, Jr., Karen Marie Myatt Sheehan, Michael Bryk, Barbara Bryk Tuttle, Mary Ann Bryk Pendzuk, and Sharlotte Neely Donnelly, and many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Eddie died at age 85 and is buried at Hillcrest Cemetery in Savannah near his parents and wife.
