Death: May 18, 1925

Known as Luther.

Seventh of 11 children born to J. A. Quitman Palmer b. March 10, 1848 and Elizabeth Belle Barr b. June 23, 1851.

Maternal grandparents: Allen E. Barr b. August 28, 1811 and Jane Palace Campbell b. May 3, 1820.

Paternal grandparents: John Houston Palmer b. March 28, 1816 and Eliza Jane Terry b. December 22, 1821.

Unmarried; no children.

Registered for military service on June 5, 1917 and served in France during World War I. At the time he registered for service Luther was employed by the Red River Land and Cattle Company.

The following article from Elmer, Oklahoma was published in a Jackson County, Oklahoma newspaper shortly after Luther's death:

"The sad news of the death of Luther Palmer, who for many years was a resident of this place, was received here Saturday. He had been in poor health for several months. It is supposed he contracted tuberculosis while in France during the World War but it had not fully developed until he had a very severe attack of pneumonia last winter. As soon as he could travel he was taken to New Mexico, but did not seem to improve very much and about three weeks ago he became ill and was brought back to the home of his mother, Mrs. E. B. Palmer, at Memphis, Texas. There everything that doctors, relatives and kind friends could do was done for him but he grew rapidly worse and on May 18 he died.

"The funeral was in charge of the American Legion of which he was a member. The service was conducted by Rev. Chas. T. Whaley.

"Luther, up until a few years ago, had lived most of his life in and around Elmer and he has many old friends here to whom it will be a sad shock to hear of the untimely death of one who was always so healthy and full of life. Luther always had a happy smile and jolly word for everyone and had hosts of friends who extend to his loved ones their heart felt sympathy in their dark hour of grief and sorrow."
